Turn Cash Into Bitcoin With ZipZap

We’ve just added ZipZap to BittyBot – the UK’s number one Bitcoin price comparison website.

ZipZap are a California-based global payments network, currently providing cash-to-bitcoin services in the US, UK and Brazil.

In the UK ZipZap have partnered with payment processor Payzone which means you can exchange your cash for bitcoin at over 20,000 retail locations across the UK. These are normally small shops, corner shops which are located in every town, making it incredibly easy for anyone to purchase bitcoins.

The process is simple, you sign up for an account with ZipZap here. You’ll need to have a bitcoin wallet since ZipZap does not hold your bitcoins for you, although they do provide an option to create a BlockChain wallet during registration if you don’t have one.

Once registered, you need to specify how many pounds’ worth of bitcoin you wish to purchase, the minimum is currently £10 and the maximum £300 per transaction. At the top of the page the price ticker shows you the bitcoin price, this price is linked to the exchange rate and includes ZipZap’s processing fees.

The bitcoin price you will be charged is determined by the exchange rate at the time when the payment is received. In general this is approximately 2.5-3% above the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index (BPI) which makes ZipZap’s prices incredibly competitive for the UK.

Once you’ve decided how much bitcoin you want to purchase you next need to find your nearest Payzone location, you do this by searching on Postcode or Town/City name. If you want to see where your nearest Payzone location is without registering with ZipZap you can check that here.

With the amount of bitcoin required and payment location specified, ZipZap will present you with a unique Payment Slip for your order. You need to print out this payment slip and take it along with the agreed amount in cash to your agreed Payzone location.

It’s more than likely that your local Payzone shop will not know what a bitcoin is, but if you hand them the payment slip and tell them that you want to make a payment all should be fine. You have 72 hours in which to make the payment, otherwise the order will automatically be cancelled.

Once payment is made you’ll be handed a receipt for your records, keep this is case there are any disputes with your payment. You should receive an email very shortly after payment to confirm that ZipZap have received the cash and that your bitcoins are on their way. It normally takes between 10-30 minutes for the bitcoins to arrive in your wallet.

That’s all there is to it, it’s a lot simpler than doing bank transfers, it’s almost as easy as using a bitcoin ATM but without the large commission fees.

Why not buy some bitcoins with ZipZap next time you pop out for a pint of milk.
